Kids’ Health: Positive Self-Esteem Development in Children

Building self-esteem in children is an important aspect of development that should involve both teachers and parents. The role of parents in building their children’s self-esteem is important from the onset. What those who are around the child say and do impacts the child’s development.

Parents should encourage children to perform and keep trying without making them feel like failure is a bad thing. Playing and working with children on activities such as gardening, washing dishes and others improves their self-esteem. When parents love and accept children even when they make mistakes, the children grow with a healthy self-esteem, which is externalized in their future.

Imani Montessori is very keen on developing positive self-esteem among children while learning and during play. The school identifies the talents of each child while recognizing their weaknesses.
